Assistive Technology Cook and Hussey (1995) state assistive technology is "an item piece of equipment or product system whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified or customized that is used to increase or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities".
One piece of assistive technology that I was interested in was the Talking Photo Album
This album is allows a recorded messgae of 10 seconds to be added to each photo in the album. It is great for people with cognitive or mempory issues or children to remember past experiences and times presented in each photo. It also allows them to share their memories with others.
The album is priced at around $15.00 and includeds the self adhesive pockets and the recording device to play back the messages recorded.
