Digital Camera use and applications Tut 2

"A new technology is rarely superior to an old one in every feature". Briefly dicuss this statement in relation to ditial camera technology. What would you consider to be some of the pluses and minuses digital camera technology holds in relation to more traditional film based cameras?
Digital cameras allow you to take more photos and view them straightaway which allows you to keep or delete them unlike film cameras that need to be devloped to see the photos. A down side to digital camera is you are less likely to print the photos off compared to a film cameraa. Also digital cameras only require one memory card to work which does not need to be replaced unlike the films.

Ways digital images can be stored transferred and manipulated using communications technology:
- Photo shop can be used to completely ulter, change and even re create and image.
- Can put photos on internet trhough sites such as facebook, flicker that can be taken and reused by anyone else.
- Can store photos on computer, CD's, phones or print them off

Given the prevalence of image capturing devices, and thinking about the issues discussed, consider what sort of ethical issues may arise with their use?
Invasion of peoples privacy as photos could end up in wrong place or hands. Permissions is not always granted before images are taken, some people dont know where or what the photos will be used for. Transferring images creates another issue.

Discuss some ways digital images could, are, being used in occupational Therpay practice?
- Photos of houses are used to apply for adaptations or used to show what equipment might be required
- More visual way of displaying things around the ward

Flickr.com: Is an online photo album, it is a revolution in photo storage, sharing and organising, making photo management an easy natural and collaborative process. Facebook, myspace is similar to this.

Digital vs Optical zoom: Optical zoom lens changes the focal length and madnification as it is zoomed. Image quality stays high throughout zoom range whereas digital zoom crops the image to a smaller size, then enlarges the cropped portion to fill camera frame which looses quality.

Megapixal: Is a million pixels. Tiny wee squares that make up a picture, more megapixels the better the quality.
